How long will it take?
Leave 2 hours free for the ‘initial treatment’ and 1.5 hours for the ‘touch-up treatment.’
Does it hurt ?
Lips can be more sensitive due to the greater blood supply in that area but I use excellent anaesthetics to keep any discomfort under control. I use a topical numbing cream prior to procedure and a local anaesthetic gel is applied once the procedure has started. This is very effective and is topped up regularly to keep you comfortable.
What if I’m prone to cold sores?
If you’ve ever had a cold sore it’s advisable to apply Zovirax cream for 5 days prior to your lip treatment to minimise an outbreak that could affect how your lips heal.
If you’re in the middle of an outbreak the area must be fully healed before you have your lip treatment.
How do you choose a shape?
You are encouraged to come wearing your regular makeup.
What will it look like immediately after the procedure?
It will appear bolder and darker for the first week, as it heals it will fade to a softer colour. After the lips have healed the colour can look extremely faint, almost non-existent if a light shade was chosen. It can take 3-4 weeks for the colour to settle back in the correct dermal layer close to the lip surface again. But rest assured it will come back.
Does it hurt afterwards?
The area can be sore for a few hours and then tender to the touch for a couple of days afterwards.
The area may appear slightly swollen and a little pink for 12-24 hours after treatment, this is normal but you can use an ice pack to reduce this if you wish.
Avoid eating any salty or spicy foods for 24 hours and drink liquids through a straw for 12 hours.
